Gingivitis therapy

Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gum tissues (gingiva)". Inflammation is caused from inadequate cleaning of the oral tissues. Proper brushing and flossing will help prevent this inflammation from occurring.

Treatment usually consists of regular cleaning by a hygienist and brushing at least twice a day for 2 minutes and flossing daily.

Non-surgical Periodontal therapy

Beyond gingivitis is the deterioration of the foundation that holds our teeth in our jaws. This foundation is our bone. When bacteria cause inflammation and are not removed it can cause a toxic environment which our bone does not like and therefore moves away from this toxicity. In doing this it causes bone loss and can be of varying degrees.

ScRP

Scaling and Root Planing is the first recommended treatment for periodontal disease. It is aimed at going and removing calculus and plaque build up, which produces and harbors bacteria, which release the toxins.

Surgical Periodontal therapy

When Non- surgical therapies are completed and more tx is necessary it may be determined by the dentist to do a more surgical approach. This can be any variation of treatments ranging from bone grafting adding bone to osstectomy or bone removal to create a more readily cleansable environment. In both options your home care is top priority in defending and fighting off periodontal disease.
